Bayern Munich produced a ruthless attacking display at the Allianz Arena dismantling Union Berlin 7–0 in a commanding Bundesliga performance. The victory was highlighted by Michael Olise’s hat-trick and another record-breaking night for Harry Kane, while several of Bayern’s Ballon d’Or nominees played decisive roles in a result that underlined the club’s attacking depth.
The Bavarians entered the contest looking to build momentum after a narrow 2–1 victory over Elversberg in their previous league outing. Vincent Kompany restored several regular starters to his lineup, including Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, Luis Díaz, Michael Olise and Kane. The decision paid immediate dividends as Bayern established control from the opening stages.
Jamal Musiala opened the scoring in the 18th minute, giving Bayern an early advantage and setting the tone for an evening dominated by the hosts. Union struggled to cope with Bayern’s movement and passing combinations, while the home side repeatedly found space in dangerous areas.
The biggest individual storyline, however, belonged to Harry Kane. The England captain converted a penalty in the 39th minute to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, becoming the fastest player in the competition’s history to reach the milestone. Kane achieved the landmark in just 98 appearances, surpassing Dieter Müller’s previous record of 129 matches.
Kane was not finished. He added another goal after the interval, taking his Bundesliga tally to 101 and further strengthening his reputation as one of the division’s most prolific finishers. His performance was particularly significant in the context of the ongoing Ballon d’Or conversation.
Kane is among four Bayern Munich players nominated for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, alongside Michael Olise, Luis Díaz and Dayot Upamecano. UEFA’s official shortlist confirms the quartet’s nominations, while Bayern’s domestic campaign also earned recognition through the club’s nomination for Men’s Club of the Year and Kompany’s inclusion among the Coach of the Year nominees.
Olise arguably produced the night’s most spectacular individual performance. The French winger scored a hat-trick as Bayern continued to overwhelm Union after the break. His finishing was complemented by his creativity and involvement in Bayern’s attacking sequences, giving another reminder of why he was included among the Ballon d’Or nominees.
His contribution also carried particular weight given his impressive 2025/26 campaign. According to Bundesliga, Olise recorded 15 goals and 19 assists for Bayern last season, figures that helped secure his place on the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist.
Ismael Saibari also made his mark after coming off the bench, adding to the rout and helping Bayern turn an already comfortable advantage into a seven-goal statement. The result ultimately showcased the depth available to Kompany, with Bayern able to maintain their attacking intensity even as changes were introduced.
The 7–0 victory therefore carried several layers of significance. Bayern strengthened their early Bundesliga campaign, while Kane reached another historic milestone and Olise delivered a hat-trick on a night when four Ballon d’Or nominees represented the club.
For Kane in particular, the evening offered another remarkable chapter in an already extraordinary period. Reuters reported that the striker scored 73 goals for Bayern and England during the 2025/26 season, while Kane has maintained that his focus remains on continuing to perform rather than dwelling on individual awards.
With the Ballon d’Or ceremony scheduled for October 26, Kane and Olise have now added another memorable performance to their respective cases. More importantly for Bayern, Friday’s emphatic victory demonstrated that their attacking machine remains capable of producing devastating football when their key stars click into gear.
